Ed Irwin, a founding partner of Shore Points, has 25 years of experience in the private equity industry. Before starting Shore Points with Steve Alexander in 2006, Ed was a Managing Director at BNP Paribas, first in the Merchant Banking Group, and then as a principal in the Private Capital Group. Prior to that, Ed worked for the Chase Manhattan Bank for over 10 years and was a founding member and principal of Chase Capital, which was the private equity unit of Chase and one of the predecessors to JP Morgan Partners.
Ed has led investments in a number of enterprise software and technology businesses, including, GenAlpha Technologies, Navimize, Colyar Technology Solutions, Loftware, TSD Rental, Automated Resource Group, and Sirsi. He also has invested and served on the board of a variety of successful businesses in the manufacturing, electronics, technology and service sectors including notably Details Inc. (printed circuit board manufacturer); American Tower Corp (cell tower operator); Global Energy Equipment Group (manufacturer of steam generators); Turner Brothers (crane operator); and OK International (electronics tools).
Ed received a BA degree from Harvard and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
